Storytelling series travels from Tallinn to Hiiumaa island

„The storytelling evenings in August in Tallinn and Hiiumaa are quite special for the series because of the storytellers themselves,“ says the artistic director of the event Piret Päär. „These are people from all spheres of life but all of them are known in their communities as good storytellers. They all have in common great interest for stories and love for their native islands.“
This is the first time that the storytelling event travels ’overseas’ to the island of Hiiumaa. The organisers are grateful to supporters like the Association of Baltic Islands B7 and Hiiumaa Cooperation Body.

„Stories of the Seashore“ will be told on 4 August at 19.00 in the courtyard of restaurant nAnO at Sulevimägi 5. Listeners can buy drinks and snacks. As there are limited spaces available, it is recommended to buy tickets in advance at Piletilevi. Ticket price is 3 euros.

 

From Tallinn the storytellers will travel to the island of Hiiumaa and will tell their stories on 5 August at 19.00 in Suursadam next to big boats. Ticket 3€ (at Piletilevi and at venue) On 6 August at 16.00–16.45; 17.00–17. 45; 18.00–18. 45 the stories can be heard during Kärdla Café Day in Kärdla main square information point UBA, free entry.

All international guests will tell stories in English.

The storytelling series is being presented by European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011 and supported by the Association of Baltic Islands B7, Hiiumaa Cooperation Body, Nordic Council of Ministers, Europe Direct Hiiumaa and Saaremaa information centre, Folk Culture Development and Training Centre, NPO Armastus.
