Tallinn Maritime Days exclusive concerts tickets on sale now

Anneliis Kits & Righteous Jazz Citizens will perform on Friday 15 July at 21.30 in Tallinn Maritime Days jazz area. From the cooperation of young composer and producer Sander Mölder and DJ Quest a new group was born in 2011 that merges jazz, club beat, modern electronics and classical instruments into nu-jazz. Hit songs by James Blake, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Kings of Leon, Fleetwood Mac, Joe Jackson etc. get a new appearance. Musicians in the band include the new generation Jazz singer Anneliis Kits, guitarist Karl Kanter and Peep Kallas on drums.

On Saturday 16 July from 21.30 the jazz area will be filled with warm-hearted music by Helin-Mari Arder Quintet. Music by Estonian composers and poets will be performed along with Helin-Mari’s own songs as well as songs composed on lyrics of her uncle Ott Arder and beautiful pieces from hot Brazil and the rest of the world. Helin-Mari Arder has become beloved by audiences with her simple and heartfelt style. In addition to jazz she loves to perform songs by Estonian authors, bossa nova, samba, French chanson; her own best known piece is „Väike päike“ (Little sun). Performing along with Helin-Mari will be Teet Raik (trumpet, guitar), Mart Soo (guitar), Taavo Remmel (base) and Ahto Abner (drums).

In the early hours on Saturday 16 July there is a unique possibility to experience a sunrise cruise on Tallinn Bay. Tõnu Raadik on violin and Henn Rebane on accordion will make the sun shine. Departure for the two hour cruise is at 4.30 to enjoy the beauty of the historic ship Kajsamoor, Tallinn panorama, concert and breakfast. Raadik and Rebane have been sharing their thoughts in music since the middle of seventies, both together and alone, with and without Kukerpillid. This duo of friends always sounds natural and emotional. On the programme will be jazz classics and music from many corners of the world.

 

Tallinn Maritime Days Jazz area is located next to Tallinn Harbour’s C-terminal in Jazz tent, where cosy atmosphere will be created by delicate music, café and fabulous views at the Admiralty Inlet in evening dusk where Krusenstern and other old ships anchor during Maritime days.

Late evening of July 15 the hangars (under construction) of the Seaplane Harbour of Estonian Maritime Museum will open to public, where at 22.00 a new creation by composer Helena Tulve and artist Tarvo Hanno Varres „Salt“ will have its premiere. The piece was commissioned by European Capital of Culture and specially designed to be performed in the seaplane hangars of Lennusadam harbour, which have an important place in architectural history, taking into consideration the unusual domes of the structure and the acoustic opportunities they present. Salt is a piece for a percussion, voice and video. Lyrics have been written by Maarja Kangro. Performers are sopranos Eve Kopli and Tui Hirv, Riivo Kallasmaa (oboe), Kristi Mühling (zither) and percussion ensemble Paukenfest. „Salt“ will also be performed on Saturday 16 July.

Tickets for concerts in Jazz area cost 4 euros, both performances of „Salt“ 12 euros and morning jazz on board 15 euros. Tickets are on sale at Piletilevi.
